Borat: The AJL Review
Jakshimash.
So we were invited to a special press screening of the new Borat film last week. First off, since everyone's already been talking about it: Most of the movie is actually in Hebrew. Whenever Borat talks to his fellow Kazakh comrade, he does it in the holy tongue.
The movie is as funny as you think it is. Throughout you're either laughing out loud or have your jaw dropped to the floor. Yes, it's that good.
My only problem was that the movie was too short. The fast-paced hour and a half felt like one really long trailer. As well, I kept wondering why they left out some of the funny deleted scenes that have been circulating on the Internet here, here, here, and here.
One of the funniest sequences takes place at a kosher bed and breakfast in the Southeast (the movie says it's in Atlanta but as a native I can tell you it's not) where the unsuspecting elderly Jewish couple running the B&B have no clue who they have the world's biggest anti-Semite staying at their hotel.
Other crazy scenes include defecating and naked men. Needless to say, it wouldn't hurt to bring a puke bag. And that's a good thing.
As Borat would say, "I like".

- Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who are currently filming a movie based on the life and death of slain Jewish journalist Daniel Pearl, have just donated $100,000 to a charity established in Pearl's memory.
